Seeking Climate Adaptation Managers and Municipal Practitioners Ada — An AI-powered Climate Adaptation System

  • Date: 11.06.2026
  • Climate adaptation protects local infrastructure, improves citizens' quality of life, and makes municipalities more attractive for investment—yet a lack of expertise, limited resources, and fragmented information often hinder the development of effective adaptation strategies. To address these challenges, the AI-powered climate adaptation system "Ada" is being developed at the human-centered systems lab (https://h-lab.win.kit.edu/) in collaboration with the non-profit organization UIG e.V. (https://nutzerfreundlich.digital/).

The system guides municipalities step-by-step through climate risk analysis and adaptation planning—offering a process that is easy to understand, ISO-compliant (14091/14092), and aligned with the Federal Climate Adaptation Act (KAnG). We are looking for climate adaptation managers and municipal practitioners to participate in an expert interview to discuss current climate adaptation practices and key obstacles in their municipalities, or to test the system in a usability session. Municipalities interested in supporting the project through a development partnership are also very welcome. Full details and free, no-obligation registration are available at: https://ada-climate.com/
