Student Assistant (m/f/d) in the "AI+ CBT Lab" Project with Rethink Wellbeing

About the Project

The AI+ CBT Lab is a joint research and development project between KIT (Human-Centered Systems Lab, Prof. Dr. Alexander Mädche) and the nonprofit Rethink Wellbeing. The CBT Lab is an established 12-week digital mental health program where groups of 4–6 participants meet weekly for 90-minute online sessions with trained facilitators, learning evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) methods. The AI+ CBT Lab project aims to enhance and scale this program through AI and automation: at least 75% of previously manual processes will be automated, reducing per-participant costs from ~$240 to ~$30–40 while maintaining high quality.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop no-code/low-code automation solutions (e.g., n8n, Airtable)
  • Build LLM-based chatbot prototypes (e.g., via Chatbase) to communicate with participants and facilitators
  • Technically integrate AI features and automations (e.g., API connections, automated workflows, data pipelines)

Your Profile

  • Enrolled student at a German university (KIT preferred) in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering and Management, Computer Science, or a comparable field
  • Intermediate programming skills (e.g., Python)
  • Autonomous, structured working style and motivation to learn new tools
  • Desirable: hands-on experience with no-code/low-code tools (e.g., Make, n8n, Airtable) and generative AI/LLMs; basic understanding of APIs, webhooks, and database structures

What We Offer

  • Involvement in a meaningful, international R&D project with real-world impact
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools and low-/no-code platforms
  • Option to complete a Practical Seminar or thesis alongside the position within the project context
