The collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence in hybrid teams (human-AI teams) is a highly topical issue in both research and practice. The design of interactive systems for human-AI collaboration, and their impact on individuals and teams, raises many questions. These are currently being investigated in several research projects at KIT using the KD2Lab experimental research infrastructure.
The existing Master's course "Designing Interactive Systems: Human-AI Interaction (DIS)" provides students with a conceptual introduction to the human-centered design of AI-based interactive systems. The "RIRO Course: Designing Interactive Systems for Human-AI Teams" aims to enable students to conduct their own research in the context of human-AI teaming. The aim of the RIRO Course is to inspire students early on to pursue a career in research and to raise their awareness of the challenges involved in designing AI-based interactive systems for teams. This should contribute to scientific knowledge acquisition, the promotion of young talent, and practical contributions to the successful design of collaboration between humans and AI.
The development and offering of the course is funded by KIT funds from the Excellence University as a so-called "EXU activity".
